Register for the Annual PACFE Fraud Conference on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.  Earn 8 hours of CPE (including 2 hours of ethics) through 6 diverse presentations.

In this session, our speaker will explore the field of document examination including counterfeit documents, forged checks, fraudulent wills, signature identification, anonymous letters and synchronous writing.

Healthcare Fraud (1 HR)
Shawn Brokos, Supervisory Special Agent
Federal Bureau of Investigations, Pittsburgh Division

Our speaker will discuss the investigative process for Welfare, Medicare and Medicaid Fraud cases including the moral and ethical issues with healthcare fraud and how this ultimately impacts patients and their care. She will also discuss the players involved in healthcare fraud investigations and the consequences facing providers conducting fraud.

Smartphones & Bad Apps (2 HRS)
James A. Dill, Retired Deputy Chief of Investigative Services – PA Office of Attorney General
President, Innovative Technology & Investigative Solutions

This session focuses on the types of information stored on smartphones, how apps are used to hide evidence and commit fraud through the use of encryption, secret vault apps, self-destructing messaging and Caller ID manipulation.  Session will include lecture, multi-media, case studies and live demonstrations. 

Identity Theft(1 HR)
Larry Benson,Director of Strategic Alliances – Government
LexisNexis Risk Solutions

This session dissects the use of identity theft to defraud government agencies. Our speaker will discuss how identities are stolen, types of identity theft, and examples of SNAP, unemployment, and social security fraud.  Each attendee will receive a copy of his recent book, “WTF? Where's the Fraud? How to Unmask and Stop Identity Fraud's Drain on Our Government”

Conference will also include courses qualifying for 2 hours of ethics credit.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Due to strict regulatory requirements for awarding Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits, CPE certificates will only be issued at the conclusion of the conference.  PACFE cannot award the full-day 8 CPEs to an attendee who departs the conference prior to the event’s conclusion.  If an attendee needs to leave early, please notify one of the PACFE officers/directors so that your CPE certificate can be adjusted to accurately reflect the amount of earned CPEs.  Attendees who fail to pick up their CPE certificates at the event conclusion risk losing all CPEs if PACFE cannot verify the attendee’s full-day attendance.  Attendees picking up certificates on behalf of other attendees is not permitted.
